Oklahoma is coming off a 38-31 home loss to Iowa State, its first defeat in 385 days. Oklahoma’s winning streak of 14 games overall, 17 in Big 12 play and 18 against Iowa State came to a halt Saturday with a 38-31 home loss to the Cyclones. Baker Mayfield threw for 306 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in just his fifth loss in 31 games as OU’s starting quarterback. The defeat for OU was its first at the hands of Iowa State since 1990.
But, it’s the 2nd Saturday in October and it’s time to put that loss behind us. In a match up of the Big 12’s two most successful programs, No. 12/12 Oklahoma plays Texas for the 112th time on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game, to be played in Dallas for the 89th straight year, will be televised by ESPN. OU has won 10 Big 12 titles in the league’s 21-year history, with no other program during that span winning more than three. All 10 of OU’s Big 12 titles have come in the last 18 years, with no other program winning more than two during the span. Texas ranks second with three Big 12 titles.
Join us at Kelly’s Tavern at Haygood for the Red River Showdown on Saturday at 3:30 PM. Don’t forget, we are currently accepting alumni dues for the OU Club of Hampton Roads. Visit our website to pay online.
We hope to see everyone on Saturday to support the University of Oklahoma Sooners!
